About

Elena Rybina is a New York-based artist who works in an abstract manner mostly with oil and acrylic paints on canvas.

The central place in her paintings is devoted to natural and botanical motives.

She likes to add many layers to her works, some of which are partially transparent so that a vibrant watercolor effect can be achieved.

Elena was born and grown up in Kyiv, Ukraine. From early childhood, she had her passion to draw from nature. Having a garden full of flowers around her parents’ house she could spend hours outdoors to examine plants and then draw them with watercolors.

While finishing her Master’s Degree in Finance in London, Rybina was inspired by numerous contemporary art exhibitions and rediscovered her love for painting.

She decided to advance her studies in the Art Students League of New York, where she established her style of abstract painting.

Elena has taken part in several art exhibitions. Namely, she recently showed her watercolor works on the yearly Student Concurs in New York ASL (2020) from Women Series, which were recognized for their use of both bold color combinations and translucent textures.

In April 2021, Elena participated in a group exhibition at Van Der Plas Gallery, New York. The Visual Culture Show highlighted her abstract works, which represented bright and infinite colors of nature as well as its fluidity and life itself.
